Ryszard Józef Jaroń (ur. 1928, Działki k. Żyrardowa) pochodzi z wielodzietnej rodziny. Jego ojciec pracował jako stolarz w zakładach tramwajowych w Warszawie, dorabiając we własnym warsztacie. W pierwszych latach okupacji niemieckiej pan Józef chodził do szkoły podstawowej w Wiskitkach i tam rozpoczął działalność konspiracyjną, przyjmując pseudonim „Lisek”. Jego wychowawcą był Benedykt Karlicki „Piłat”, działacz ruchu oporu w Okręgu AK „Żaba”. Na polecenie „Piłata” pan Józef przenosił pod wskazane adresy listy i meldunki, a także prowadził działania wywiadowcze. Zaprzysiężony 10 czerwca 1943 r., służył w V kompanii 23 plutonie (tzw. wiskickim) Okręgu AK „Żaba”, dowodzonym najpierw przez Józefa Holca (do jego aresztowania w czerwcu 1944 r.), a później przez Jana Sokołowskiego – „Sęka”. Po wojnie zrobił maturę i podjął pracę w Zakładach Przemysłu Pończoszniczego „Stella” w Żyrardowie. 29 sierpnia 1954 r. w Skierniewicach wziął ślub z Teresą Polak „Małą”, która w czasie okupacji była łączniczką i sanitariuszką Obwodu AK „Sroka”. Przez 20 lat był ławnikiem w sądzie okręgowym oraz w sądzie wojewódzkim w Warszawie. Przez 15 lat był przewodniczącym Rady Zakładowej w „Stelli”, w komisji nadzorczej w ZUS-ie. Uhonorowany Srebrnym i Złotym Krzyżem Zasługi oraz wieloma innymi odznaczeniami, w 2002 roku awansowany do stopnia porucznika. Jest aktywnym członkiem środowiska kombatantów okręgu „Żaba” w Żyrardowie w ramach Światowego Związku Żołnierzy AK.

Ojciec był stolarzem, miał własny warsztat, a także pracował w warsztatach tramwajów warszawskich, rodzina żyła w miarę dostatnio. Mama prowadziła dom. Szkoła w Wiskitkach – do 7 klasy. Z domu w Działkach chodzili pieszo, musieli się wzajemnie przenosić przez błoto.
[00:04:00] Wybuch wojny – w drodze do szkoły ostrzał z przelatujących samolotów – boh. schronił sie w rowie z siostrą. W szkole bułeczki na drugie śniadanie. Wybuchy bomb w okolicy – bombardowanie dworca i torów kolejowych. Droga nr 50., kopanie okopów u sąsiada, schrodnienie w rowie w lesie między Żyrardowem a Guzowem.
[00:08:00] Mama boh. prosiła żołnierzy stacjonujących w lesie z karabinem o odejście. Oficer polski puścił wolno konia Maciusia, nadejście Niemców, pistolet znaleziony przy siodle – za karę ustawienie rodziny boh. pod murem pod bronią jak do egzekucji. Żołnierze polscy poddali się Niemcom do niewoli, zostali zabici. Masowe niszczenie domów i obejść przez hitlerowców.
[00:11:13] Początek okupacji – przybycie Niemców. Polscy żołnierze w lesie zabrali chleb upieczony przez mamę. Dalsza nauka w szkole w Wiskitkach podczas okupacji. W ostatniej klasie (13 lat) nauczyciel Karlicki ps. „Piłat” wciągnął boh. w działalność opozycyjną – jako łącznika.
[00:15:45] W Wiskitkach Schupo aresztowało nauczyciela Trzeciaka, zniknięcie Karlickiego. Siatka konspiracyjna, spotkania odbywały się u fryzjera. Niemiec Cierpiński zmienił nazwisko na Leitner, był pod obserwacją AK – miał zabić kogoś za kradzież węgla Warszawie. Ostrzeżenie wójta Klemke.
[00:21:38] Napad na konwój wiozący pieniądze na wynagrodzenia dla pracowników zakładów lniarskich – Leitner doniósł o tym Niemcom. Podczas strzelaniny zginął jeden akowiec i jeden Niemiec, partyzanci zabrali pieniądze. Zamordowanie Leitnera i jego rodziny (6 osób) przez partyzantów, spalenie jego gospodarstwa. [+]
[00:24:30] W drodze do szkoły boh. mijał dom Cierpińskiego/Leitnera – obserwował, co się tam dzieje. Potajemny pogrzeb na cmentarzu.
[00:27:14] Przyjazd Niemców z karabinami maszynowymi na Działki. Stanisław Bodych rozkazał powiadomić Karlickiego o ruchach Niemców – boh. był łącznikiem.
[00:30:07] Nakaz kopania okopów. Łapanka do wywózki na roboty do Niemiec trzech sióstr boh. – interwencja matki w obozie przejściowym przy ul. Skaryszewskiej, zwolnienie najmłodszej siostry. [+]
[00:32:54] Ciężkie życie podczas okupacji – zbieranie kłosów po żniwach i suszenie, kręcenie śruty, zupa, placki z buraków cukrowych. Wywiezienie boh. do kopania okopów do Sochaczewa – ucieczka z kolegą z ciężarówki. Pomoc kobiety Grzelakowej, chleb ze smalcem, powrót piechotą do domu.
[00:38:42] Jabłka od węgierskich żołnierzy. Po wojnie Sokołowski wywieziony pociągiem na Syberię, rozstrzelany po drodze (przez UB). Karlicki pozostał partyzantce, boh. był jego łącznikiem – od 13. roku życia, pseudonim „Lisik”, oddział „Żaba” (200 osób), obwód „Bażant”.
[00:44:23] Wystąpienie weteranów AK ze ZBoWiD-u. Nieznany jest los wywiezionego nauczyciela Trzeciaka. Bernard Karlicki zmarł po wojnie. Tadeusz Sokołowski bezpośrednio podlegał pod rząd polski w Londynie. Okoliczności jego śmierci ujawniła prasa, futro odesłane żonie.
[00:48:20] Obie siostry wróciły w Niemiec po wojnie. Ojciec w czasie okupacji pracował, miał mieszkanie i warsztat na Woli przy ul. Wolskiej 124. Rodzina przed powstaniem mieszkała w Żyrardowie, 6 sierpnia 1944 ojciec zabrał piłę i hebel i udawał, że wraca do domu. Na podwórku ich mieszkania Niemcy dokonali egekucji 3 tys. cywilów z Woli. [+] Kolega ojca był w służbie pomocniczej usuwającej ciała zamordowanych. Wybuch granatu w warszatcie ojca.
[00:52:27] Rodzice nie wiedzieli, że boh. działał w konspiracji. Powrót ojca do domu, opowiadanie o powstaniu warszawskim. Boh. przygotowywał się do walki zbrojnej, miał pistolet vis, trzymał go w skrytce pod strzechą. Mama oddała go władzom po wojnie.
[00:56:08] W czasie okupacji w Żyrardowie stacjonowała żandarmeria oraz okrutne Schupo – wywozili aresztowanych do Międzyborowa i lasu Radziejowskiego, rozstrzelali wiele osób. Łączniczka AK przechowywała w sklepie radiostację, Gdy aresztowano Paprzyckiego, członka oddziału, wydał ją podczas tortur – ślad po niej zaginął. Wydał też Niemcom innych członków oddziału, otwarcie współpracował z Niemcami. Został zastrzelony przez AK na rynku w Żyrardowie. Dziewczyna miała pseudonim „Niezłomna” [„Nieugięta”?].
[01:00:16] [Przed wojną] W klasie było po 12 Polaków i Żydów, w Wiskitkach żyło wielu Żydów, liczne bijatyki z nimi. Zamożni Kurbicze mieli sklep z mięsem i wędlinami, wielu było biednych: Haberman, pracownik tartaku. Żydzi zajmowali się drobnym handlem. Wywożenie Żydów do getta, szaber w pożydowskich mieszkaniach. Dokuczanie Żydom podczas obrządków religijnych. Nikt z nich się nie uratował.
[01:04:48] Publiczna egzekucja czternastu osób pod murem Zakładów Lniarskich. [+]. Pogrzeb Holca, pobitego i zastrzelonego przez Niemców. Wyroki na Niemcach wykonywał Skrowaczewski, zabił m.in. Funka. Fryzjer Skoneczny.
[01:11:15] Koniec wojny, wjazd czołgów radzieckich, silne walki, trupy Rosjan na ulicy, rozbite czołgi, pijane wojsko [+]. Ojcu ukradziono zegarek.
[01:15:50] W czasie wojny boh. pracował w Załadach Lniarskich w dziale bawełny, a po wojnie w pończoszarni zakładów pończoszniczych. Zakończenie działalności konspiracyjnej, ujawnienie. Siostry: Teresa, Jadwiga, Krystyna, Ziuta.
[01:19:15] Boh. pracował w związku zawodowym włókniarzy, przewodniczył radzie zakładowej w pończoszarni. Strajki sierpniowe, powstanie „Solidarności”.
[01:21:45] Największy strach był podczas wkraczania Niemców na początku wojny – gdy stali pod murem po znalezieniu pistoletu. Nie wierzono, że Polska może się obronić. Broń porzucona przez żołnierzy polskich w lesie, rozstrzelanie 4 polskich żołnierzy.

Ever since it was established, the Witold Pilecki Institute of Solidarity and Valor has been collecting and sharing documents that present the multiple historical facets of the last century. Many of them were previously split up, lost, or forgotten. Some were held in archives on other continents. To facilitate research, we have created an innovative digital archive that enables easy access to the source material. We are striving to gather as many archives as possible in one place. As a result, it takes little more than a few clicks to learn about the history of Poland and its citizens in the 20th century.
The Institute’s website contains a description of the collections available in the reading room as well as the necessary information to plan a visit. The documents themselves are only available in the Institute’s reading room, a public space where material is available free of charge to researchers and anyone interested in the topics collected there. The reading room also offers a friendly environment for quiet work.
The materials are obtained from institutions, public archives, both domestic and international social organizations, as well as from private individuals. The collections are constantly being expanded. A full-text search engine that searches both the content of the documents and their metadata allows the user to reach the desired source with ease. Another way to navigate the accumulated resources is to search according to the archival institutions from which they originate and which contain hierarchically arranged fonds and files.
Most of the archival materials are in open access on computers in the reading room. Some of our collections, e.g. from the Bundesarchiv, are subject to the restrictions on availability resulting from agreements between the Institute and the institutions which transfer them. An appropriate declaration must be signed upon arrival at the reading room in order to gain immediate access to these documents.
Before your visit, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the scope and structure of our archival, library and audio-visual resources, as well as with the regulations for visiting and using the collections.
All those wishing to access our collections are invited to the Pilecki Institute at ul. Stawki 2 in Warsaw. The reading room is open from 9–15, Monday to Friday. An appointment must be made in advance by emailing czytelnia@instytutpileckiego.pl or calling (+48) 22 182 24 75.
